Real Time

Hey guys. First off I want to start by being open. For me it doesn’t matter if 1 person views this or 1,000 people view this. My point is, I really want to be genuine with you all. These past couple months I have really been struggling to find peace in my heart and trying to get to a state of peace that I just couldn’t find. Well with this searching, I kept trying to do things my way in certain aspects of life and constantly kept failing. I got over certain things that kept me in bondage for a long time, only to find myself doing other things that I thought I had left behind a long time ago. I don’t know why I didn’t look of for help as I always try to encourage others to do, but I didn’t. I was stubborn for not trying to listen to God’s voice, selfish for only trying to please myself, and with all this also trying to hear God’s voice, while covering His up with mine. I cannot go into detail on here publicly for the sake of judgement, but I can say that I AM getting better. My eyes are opened to more around me. There are people holding me accountable and that are watching my every move. I want to be the leader and man God wants me to be. If that means sacrificing the girl I want most, that addiction I really enjoy, that thing, this things, and anything in between, then I am now ready!

Thanks for reading guys! God bless. Great things are here and still to come!

An Interesting Thought

Today I don’t really have a typical “devotional”, rather a thought I’d like to share. I really enjoy reading the books written by Paul, especially 1 & 2 Timothy because You begin to see something really beautiful through his words. As you read along in the books written by apostle Paul, you will begin to see that he really demonstrates and compares our Cristian lives to a fight, a battle, a hard and difficult journey.

With this in mind, just think and examine your own life as I am mine right now. If our life is supposed to resemble a fight, a battle, a war, than how honestly can we say that the life we live is really the one Paul describes? Do we live everyday trying to put to death our flesh and old self? Do we try to serve Him in all and please Him, our commanding officer? How much would a person that knows us from the inside out be able to say that they can see that soldiers life in ours? Do we give in more to temptation and live by the flesh, or do we put that aside and struggle to overcome and with the Spirit actually do overcome? How much to we try to please Him? How much effort do we put in all we do for Him and the Kingdom? How well do we reflect Christ’s life in our everyday matters and affairs? How much love can we say we have for our creator and one who first loved us?

Again, with this post, I am only trying to get us to examine ourselves and really ask God to fix us where we can clearly see our insufficiency and lack of Him. Please do your best and be honest with yourself when examining yourself because either way He knows where you stand!

The Fight

Today I want to encourage you all with a message that I want you to encourage other believers with as well. In 1 Timothy 6:11-12 it says:

“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

With this passage in mind, I want you all to remember that each day is a fight. Each new day we are picking up the cross and choosing to follow Jesus Christ. Each day we are choosing to put aside the flesh’s desire to do certain things that are unacceptable for us as Christians and evan as human beings.

Remember to look at the eternal life that we are promised and remember to ask God to strengthen you in all of the traits and characteristics that He wishes upon your life. We want to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness daily. We want to become BETTER humans for this earth and better warriors for the kingdom of Heaven!

Waiting On God

Psalm 130:5-6 says:

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

and in his I word I hope;

My soul waits for the Lord

more than those who watch for the

morning.”

Many times we as humans want God to work in our lives. We want God to intervene and work in OUR way and give us what WE want, when WE want it. Unfortunately thats the wrong mentality and mindset. We as His creations, need to be more willing to accept His timing and allow Him to work in the ways in which HE thinks is best. Don’t lose faith and don’t lose heart. Wait and hope in His word and I know He will work.

“The Bible Doesn’t Say It’s A Sin”

First off I want to apologize for not posting for a while. I don’t have an excuse, but I just wasn’t too time efficient and wasn’t doing too well with making time for posting up. Anyways, today I want to post about something that many of you may or may NOT agree with, and with that said I just want to say that I value and respect your opinion and maybe I am not 100% right, but this is what I believe that God has shown me and I just want to share it. This topic I have been struggling with and something that I know many of you and many others struggle with as well. Many times we are found in situations where we are doing certain things whether it be with a girl, smoking or drinking, working out, and many other endless possibilities, pushing the limits to what is considered “okay” and “a sin”. We find ourselves fighting the reality about alcohol and drinking. We fight the truth and reality about smoking, whether it may be marijuana, cigarettes, or cigars. We as humans love to have “a little fun” here and there in life, and I know that people only do certain things to feel good, to have that slight satisfaction feeling. You kiss a girl because your flesh wants her. You drink a beer or a shot or smoke something because your flesh wants to relax a little, because you want a little drink/break. And I know this first hand because I personally have been dealing with the issue of alcohol and smoking cigarettes myself. I was fighting it even up to a few weeks ago. I really didn’t want to let go of cigarettes and drinking here and there. I thought that controlled portions and rarely doing it was okay. Its not and it won’t be. The truth is, we as humans, as Christians, are supposed to glorify God in all we do. The point of our lives here on earth is to bring the Father praise and spread the gospel.

It’s very hard for me to post this because I am in a way exposing the person that I have been, but although that is true, I know my God has forgiven me and shown me the truth which is what matters to me. I am glad in a great way that I’ve had these struggles, because now I can help others more, I can be of greater assistance to my fellow brothers and sisters in a way. And with this said, lets examine the word.

In 1 Corinthians 6:12 Paul says

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.”

With this, Paul is saying that although I may be able to to all things or certain things, is it really beneficial? Is this thing that I’m so caught up in doing THAT important that I need to worry myself, that I need to consume my thoughts, my emotions, my overall human self just to be okay with doing something that I want to do to satisfy my flesh? Either way, Paul says, that God will destroy both it and them, so whats it matter?

Later on, Paul goes on and says

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

And with this passage He is saying that our body doesn’t actually belong to us. You may not like or agree with that statement, but think about it like this: If you were to create a mini civilization and make little creatures and people with life, they would be your creatures and people right? You created them, therefore, they are not their own. Well, same thing with us, we are God’s creations and we belong to Him with all of our person. We belong to Him in mind, body, and spirit. So with this said, we need to realize that every decision we make, is a decision made with God’s body. We need to be conscious of EVERYTHING we do. I know its hard and takes a lot, but this life is a daily fight and struggle to get to where Christ wants us to be. Don’t you think if Christianity and following the Truth was easy, more people would do it. But it’s not easy and requires practice and effort.

In conclusion. I am not saying that it is a DEFINITE NO to many undefined things like smoking, drinking, and many other things, but I am saying that you and I as followers need to be a blameless and pure as possible. We need to be able to evangelize with a clear conscience and without being a stumbling block for someone else. Believe me, it is more efficient to serve the Lord and bring people to Him by being an example and showing the world that you don’t need to smoke, drink, and always fight in the gray areas of life. Serve Him with all you have and in each aspect of your life, because you aren’t losing anything, in fact you are becoming stronger and becoming a better warrior for Christ. Sounds cheesy, but just think what would Jesus do?

God Is Mighty

I’ve been reading from Daniel and what I found to be interesting is how of little faith we are sometimes. In Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are the three young men of God who were asked to bow down before King Nebuchadnezzar’s god and they refused to. When the king threatened them with death, they still did not give in, but rather told him that their god is greater and can rescue them from their penalty and his hand. And even if he didn’t, they still weren’t going to be faithless and bow to a non-living God.

Let’s pray for more boldness, courage, and faith. After all God did rescue the three young men from the scorching furnace, can’t He do that much more for us and even greater? God bless you guys!

Day 110

Word of Encouragement

In Joshua 1:9 the Lord tells Joshua “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

This passage really just encouraged me this morning because yesterday I got baptized in water and really appreciate that the word spoke to me today to reassure me and to encourage me because now I know that tougher times are yet to come. The devil doesn’t attack those form the world anymore because they have already been attacked and fallen into his trap and path. He attacks us who know God and who are trying to know God more and more. He attacks us who are living our lives for Jesus and for the Kingdom of Heaven.

SO with this verse in mind, mediate in prayer and remember, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” God bless you!

Day 109

Restoring Faith

In Mark 9 there is a father of a demon possessed boy and he asks the Lord to help his son if he can and Jesus says, “what do you mean if I can, anything is possible if you believe!”, but what i really love more is the mans response which was “I do believe, but help me with my unbelief!” and this is the response that we all need to have. We all need to have a response that admits our mistake and adresses our need for Christ.

So with this in mind, i want to encourage you guys to never forget that God is mighty, God is powerful, God is faithful, God is amazing, so why do we doubt or have unbelief? Because we are imperfect humans. Join me in prayer to have greater reverence of Him and greater faith. Let’s not ever worry about if God can, but when will He or if this is even His will. I have seen God’s hand at work firsthand and have experienced His love and mercy. He surely loves us and blesses us who have faith.

Day 108

Our Life in God’s Hands!

Man, it has been such a while since I posted. While I was away at college, I had nothing but time, and now coming back home I’m gone for most of the time and have very little. But with prayer I believe God can provide me with the time I need for Him.

Anyways, today God spoke to me personally about my life, but I want to share it with you all. Psalm 119:109 says

“Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law.”

This passage for me, was a reminder that although I have been selfish in my life recently, I have not forgotten God’s laws and His will for my life, which is why I am renewed from my selfishness and am able to humble myself once again.

The Lord is a good and mighty God and He does NOT let His children toil in the mess they’re in without a solution. He gives us an answer and a way, it’s up to us to take it however. Sometimes it may be something we really don’t want to do. To stop being so vague, I will explain myself. Recently I found myself in a mess over a girl that paid me no attention. I kept on trying to show her and talk to her and make things work when in reality to her I wasn’t anything more than a friendly acquaintance. I let this situation I was in start to control my feelings and emotions and they even somewhat changed me. BUT, God had mercy on me and showed me what I have to do and that it’s not in my hands. What I need to do is draw closer to Him and seek first HIS kingdom, not mine, and then all else will fall in place!

God help us to pray and really let go of all things holding us back from having a true and full relationship with God and others. He will help us as long as we are truly sincere and have faith. REMEMBER PRAYER WORKS!!! God bless you brothers and sisters! God loves you!

Day 107

Putting God First

First, I want to apologize. I have been extremely busy and exhausted. I have been really trying to post and text, but I just have been at work or somewhere where I couldn’t. Although I will try to post as often, I don’t think it will be daily anymore, but I will try as often. Thanks for being patient.

In Psalm 16:9, David says “I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” This verse is so beautiful. It reminds me of what exactly I need to be doing and feeling. We as Christians should feel confident and “unshaken” as David says. This is what happens when we put God first and above all other things; money, work, school, purchasing items, moving, and relationships and love (my all-time personal favorite struggle).

When we put God before us in all circumstances, we can have peace. We can be rest easy and be sure that He will handle our situation the ways in which He sees best, and although what we may think is best, He the omnipotent creator probably knows best, wouldn’t you say so yourself?

Let’s do our best to put God before all things and let His hand work in our lives. Lets continually be changed by Him and His presence and Spirit, after all, we are now alive in Him! Glory and praise be to Him!! Amen.
