Something Different

I  usually post on wordpress when I’m at a great point in life and when nothing is bothering me. Well today I am at one of my lowest points that I’ve been in a while. I decided to share with you guys what’s on my heart and bothering me today. I am always in an argument with one of my brothers, always verbally abusing each other back and forth. I’m always arguing with my dad and always butting heads with him. I don’t know why, but the hardest place for me to be a Christian is in my own home. It’s so hard to tame my tongue when my brothers or dad bother me. It’s so hard to refrain from fighting with my brothers when they do something to tick me off. I really don’t know why but it is. I guess devil will work in the places where you probably find yourself the most, in my case at home. I do my best just to fall harder the next time around. It’s really something, God’s grace. It really is. That He could love someone that’s always messing up and bringing Him shame. That whatever we do, is covered by the death of His own Son….Thats phenomenal.

I am really down right now, but I need to do this. I would rather blog while at my lowest, than go smoke a pack of cigarettes, or drink some liquor, or smoke some weed because I’m upset at my brothers.

Going back to Philippians 1:27, I memorized this verse so that I could refer to it when i would be brought down and my character would become opposite of Christs. Today I ignored this verse and went crazy. Details aren’t important, however it is important that I share this: We need to act like Christ. I feel like a hypocrite saying that at the same time as knowing how I acted earlier today. I say this with confidence however, because the Word of God says that no man is without sin and if someone claims to be without sin, he is a liar. So in other words I am not afraid to share my short comings because you are not better than me and I no better than you. We are all in the same race, we are just moving at different speeds.

Let’s do our best to remember this verse. Philippians 1:27 ” Above all, you must act as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good news of Christ.” Be blessed and thanks for sharing your time with me.

Todays Devotional – Christ Character

After I came back from WIU, I think my biggest struggle was acting like Christ, being a Christian in all aspects of my life, not just at my church services and youth services. I struggle with being peaceful in my household. I struggle with anger towards anyone that bothers me. I struggle with pride towards my father. I have a hard time being humble towards my brothers. I struggle with many other things that if you looked at me, you wouldn’t have the slightest clue if I was Christian or if I was just a lost soul.

This has made me desire Christ even more recently, to desire Him with a spirit that’s unashamed to seek His help for my imperfections and to ask Him to use me to help anyone with the same issues.

I thought that if I went back to college, I could get away from my problems and stress that I accumulate in my home with my parents and siblings. But i realized going away isn’t going to help solve the problem. Rather it’s only going to postpone it for a later time.

Today I read from Philippians and Christ gave me peace and strength once again as I decided to study this book again. As I read chapter 1, I got to verse 11 which says

“May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation – the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ – for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” Philippians 1:11

In this verse alone, God opened my eyes, mind, and spirit, to just be more reverent on this idea and this message and theme of righteous character. This is the thing we need in our life more than anything as followers of Christ; a CHRIST-LIKE character!

Later on in the passage we come to verse 27 which says in the beginning of it

“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good news about Christ.” Philippians 1:27a

Just in this part alone we are reminded once again of the character we must have and obtain. I do believe repetition is a strong emphasis in the Bible whenever an important theme, message, word, or idea was to be delivered, repetition was the tool in which that sense of importance was delivered by. Here in this chapter 1 alone we see this message and theme of having righteous character appear twice.

Lets ask the Lord to reveal to us in which ways we are faulting and messing up and ask Him to help us realize these mistakes and change them. Let’s ask Christ to mold us as He wishes for His divine plan because we are never truly done growing in Him.

Thank you for reading my message today, and I hope Christ works in you as He is in me. Praise His holy name. Peace and Love!

Gifts of The Spirit

Recently many of my friends have received the gift of speaking in tongues from the Spirit. God bless them and you who have as well. However today I would like to encourage you to continue to press on and to desire more from the Spirit. Desire more gifts from Him. Don’t stop right here.

A few profound passages found in 1 Corinthians 14 that really show us what we need in regards to the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:5 “I wish you all had the gift of speaking in tongues, but even more I wish you were all able to prophesy. For prophecy is greater and more useful than the gift of speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church can get some good out of it.”

1 Corinthians 14:13 “So anyone who has the gift of speaking in tongues should pray also for the gift of interpretation in order to tell people plainly what has been said.”

With these two passages in mind, I want to encourage you all to continue to pray to God for the understanding of the speaking in tongues. I know many people including myself that prayed for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and then I stopped after speaking in tongues. The Bible tells us clearly that we should keep praying for understanding and other gifts.

Also I want to encourage you all to pray other gifts as well, gifts that can benefit the entire church, not just you personally. The speaking in tongues is good, but many people don’t know of it or understand. Many will think it’s crazy. However, if someone amongst a church has the gift of prophecy or something else aside from speaking in tongues  it will benefit both non-believers and believers. It will convict non-believers to turn to Christ and convict believers to strengthen their faiths.

Let’s pray that we keep praying for gifts from the Spirit, let’s not stop at just the speaking in tongues, but continue to ask, for interpreting the tongues, and the other gifts found in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11. Keep fighting this fight good soldiers! 🙂

The gifts of the Spirit are beautiful, however we should better understand them and their purpose. I encourage each one of you to read 1 Corinthians 14!

Thank you for reading todays post. God bless you and have a great day.

Day 83

God’s Love

The Bible is God’s love to us. Everything God does, is because of love. We were put on this planet because He loved us. He kept us on this planet because He loved us. He gives us life daily because He loves us. God is so good to us and I’m so very thankful for that!

“1Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth. 2For he loves us with unfailing love; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
This is Psalm 117. How beautiful is it? This Psalm is one of the MANY places in the Bible that talks about God’s love and his faithfulness. Let’s be ever thankful for that! Let’s glorify Him in all we do for we are a reflection of Him. Let’s also be reverent to the fact that His love endures forever and that there isn’t one second He doesn’t love us. UNCONDITIONAL! It’s too bad that unconditional love is something we as humans cannot fully grasp.
With this Psalm in mind, just glorify God and praise Him for His love and faithfulness!
God bless you and thank you for visiting today! Praise the Lord and do His will today! Know you’re loved beautiful child of God!

Day 82

The Greatest Church

Today as I was reading Acts over again, I came across something that we all need to see and know of. The church from the book of Acts. If you have not already read Acts, I strongly urge you to start now. Anyways, in this church we see amazing things. Miracles, signs and wonders, kindness, generosity, worship, happiness, joy, LOVE.

43A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.45They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

How can it be that this church got it so right? Why is it that this church seemed to do everything right? What were they doing so greatly? What was their secret? LOVE! They loved each other and God SO much that they were willing to give up all their possessions for the sake of one another’s joy. They were being blessed spiritually and physically. The number of saved peoples was growing each day.

The love in this passage is rarely found in the world today. The love in this passage is what we need to have! If we don’t see this love anywhere, then let’s start by being it. Let’s start by loving God so much, that all we want to do is love Him. In doing so, you’ll find yourself loving others collaterally because that’s the way the Spirit works!

Let’s strive to be like the people of this passage. Let’s strive to be love to all those around us. Let’s really accept our callings to be good, loving, caring, passionate followers of Christ! Let’s ask God to rule our lives and to fill us with His abundant Spirit ad presence. Let’s do these things and watch God work. I still have some hope in humanity, that among all of the evil and hate, among all of the lies and deceit, we will try to come to our senses. Let’s not just watch the world around us, but lets step into it and be the lights as these people were, as Jesus was, and as Jesus calls us to be.

Thank you for reading today’s post. God bless you and know you are loved. Seriously though, know that if no one loves you here on this planet, there is a God who is loving to all, everywhere.

Day 81

Reward For Obedience

In Exodus 20:6, we see the Lord telling Moses as he’s receiving the ten commandments about His love and reward for those who obey His laws and commands.

“But I lavish my love on those who love and obey my commands, even for a thousand generations”

I don’t think we ever think of the good things that come to us for obeying the Lord. I think that most of the time we’ll think selfishly what we are losing or not gaining by obeying, when in reality, we need to be the opposite. We need to start thinking about how we want to obey simply because we don’t want to hurt God, because we want to live as our creator wants us to. In doing so, He promises that we will be loved abundantly and so will our generations. Don’t you want that? Don’t you want to know that your kids, your kids’ kids, and so on will be blessed because YOU obeyed?

Let’s stay faithful to our God. Let’s stay within His will for our lives. Let’s obey Him because we want to, not because we have to. Let’s analyze our relationship with Him. If we see that our relationship is more of a “I have to” feeling instead of a “I want to”, pray that God may change that and intervene more. Pray that He may overwhelm you with His abundant love so that you can understand why you should want to obey.

Thank you for reading today. God bless you and may He strengthen you to stay within His will. If you need someone to talk to or want to talk to someone, I am open and willing to listen. contact me at or at 847-322-0518

Day 80

Filled With The Spirit

In Romans 8:6, we see that when our sinful nature controls our minds, there is death. There is suffering and misery, guilt and regret. If the Spirit controls and reigns in our lives, we have peace, love, life.

“6If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace.”

With this verse in mind, lets really do our best. Let’s strive to allow God and His holy presence to fill our lives, to give us peace, comfort and content, love for life and others. Let’s not allow our old selves, our evil natures and desires to rule. Let’s put away our ideas that we are better than people and let’s humble ourselves. Let’s put away the idea that we don’t like the way we look and let’s worship God and praise Him instead of focusing so much on ourselves, that we can move away from our old lustful desires we once had, that we can practice self control and turn off the computer or mobile device that is causing sin to control, that we can practice self control on our minds and emotions and not let them control us and what we do. Let’s work on our anger towards others, that we may forgive and forget easier, that we can be kind and helpful to those around us, that we can be the leaders and disciple makers Jesus calls us to be. All of this through Christ and His Holy Spirit. Let’s be filled with the Spirit and let Him rule in us.

Thank you for visiting today and may God strengthen you and help you in today itself. God bless you loved one and know Christ loves you more than anything.
