Waiting On God

Psalm 130:5-6 says:

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

and in his I word I hope;

My soul waits for the Lord

more than those who watch for the

Many times we as humans want God to work in our lives. We want God to intervene and work in OUR way and give us what WE want, when WE want it. Unfortunately thats the wrong mentality and mindset. We as His creations, need to be more willing to accept His timing and allow Him to work in the ways in which HE thinks is best. Don’t lose faith and don’t lose heart. Wait and hope in His word and I know He will work.

“The Bible Doesn’t Say It’s A Sin”

First off I want to apologize for not posting for a while. I don’t have an excuse, but I just wasn’t too time efficient and wasn’t doing too well with making time for posting up. Anyways, today I want to post about something that many of you may or may NOT agree with, and with that said I just want to say that I value and respect your opinion and maybe I am not 100% right, but this is what I believe that God has shown me and I just want to share it. This topic I have been struggling with and something that I know many of you and many others struggle with as well. Many times we are found in situations where we are doing certain things whether it be with a girl, smoking or drinking, working out, and many other endless possibilities, pushing the limits to what is considered “okay” and “a sin”. We find ourselves fighting the reality about alcohol and drinking. We fight the truth and reality about smoking, whether it may be marijuana, cigarettes, or cigars. We as humans love to have “a little fun” here and there in life, and I know that people only do certain things to feel good, to have that slight satisfaction feeling. You kiss a girl because your flesh wants her. You drink a beer or a shot or smoke something because your flesh wants to relax a little, because you want a little drink/break. And I know this first hand because I personally have been dealing with the issue of alcohol and smoking cigarettes myself. I was fighting it even up to a few weeks ago. I really didn’t want to let go of cigarettes and drinking here and there. I thought that controlled portions and rarely doing it was okay. Its not and it won’t be. The truth is, we as humans, as Christians, are supposed to glorify God in all we do. The point of our lives here on earth is to bring the Father praise and spread the gospel.

It’s very hard for me to post this because I am in a way exposing the person that I have been, but although that is true, I know my God has forgiven me and shown me the truth which is what matters to me. I am glad in a great way that I’ve had these struggles, because now I can help others more, I can be of greater assistance to my fellow brothers and sisters in a way. And with this said, lets examine the word.

In 1 Corinthians 6:12 Paul says

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord,and the Lord for the body.”

With this, Paul is saying that although I may be able to to all things or certain things, is it really beneficial? Is this thing that I’m so caught up in doing THAT important that I need to worry myself, that I need to consume my thoughts, my emotions, my overall human self just to be okay with doing something that I want to do to satisfy my flesh? Either way, Paul says, that God will destroy both it and them, so whats it matter?

Later on, Paul goes on and says

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

And with this passage He is saying that our body doesn’t actually belong to us. You may not like or agree with that statement, but think about it like this: If you were to create a mini civilization and make little creatures and people with life, they would be your creatures and people right? You created them, therefore, they are not their own. Well, same thing with us, we are God’s creations and we belong to Him with all of our person. We belong to Him in mind, body, and spirit. So with this said, we need to realize that every decision we make, is a decision made with God’s body. We need to be conscious of EVERYTHING we do. I know its hard and takes a lot, but this life is a daily fight and struggle to get to where Christ wants us to be. Don’t you think if Christianity and following the Truth was easy, more people would do it. But it’s not easy and requires practice and effort.

In conclusion. I am not saying that it is a DEFINITE NO to many undefined things like smoking, drinking, and many other things, but I am saying that you and I as followers need to be a blameless and pure as possible. We need to be able to evangelize with a clear conscience and without being a stumbling block for someone else. Believe me, it is more efficient to serve the Lord and bring people to Him by being an example and showing the world that you don’t need to smoke, drink, and always fight in the gray areas of life. Serve Him with all you have and in each aspect of your life, because you aren’t losing anything, in fact you are becoming stronger and becoming a better warrior for Christ. Sounds cheesy, but just think what would Jesus do?
