Today I want to share something with you guys that’s really important to us as Christians. I have realized that as Christians we need to seek the advice of elders and look to talk and communicate with other older and wiser Christian brothers and sisters. As I read Ecclesiastes 1:9
“9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new.”
With this passage in mind, I immediately thought about all the times that I refused to go talk to someone because I feared them thinking I am crazy and that only I must be going through this circumstance and situation, when in fact, that was the devil convincing me to not do the thing I should have most! Seek advice, seek help, and seek an answer with others. This passage showed me that there isn’t anything new under the sun, regardless of which generation you’re in, we all go through the same trials and tribulations. We all experience the same temptations. We experience the same things, in different instances. So to think that you are the only one that is struggling with self image, stress, absence of love, hatred, jealousy, pornography and lust, gossip and trash talk, etc, to think that you are the only one is plain foolishness. Seek to talk to brothers and sisters in Christ so that we can build each other up and help each other stay on track of what we are supposed to do!
Let’s try to be more open with our fellow brothers and sisters and seek advice and talk to people about the things we struggle with because we ARE NOT putting a burden on them as I have heard before, rather we are opening up our hearts and minds to changing. Let’s not be arrogent and think that only we are experiencing something when in fact the Bible makes it clear that there isn’t anything new under the sun. As the saying goes, history repeats itself. That saying didn’t even come from the Bible and it exists, so I can only say the Bible strengthens that statement.
God bless you today and pick up your cross!
