Living For Christ

We hear that we need to stay pure and obey Christ. We hear that we need to live our lives like Jesus. We hear that we need to die to our old selves. We hear all these things. We hear, but we don’t listen. Why is it that we always hear but don’t listen? Why is it that we always look, but don’t see? We may want to give up everything, all our addictions and all we struggle with, but we don’t. I am saying this because recently I have been really aware of how serious the struggle is for Christians including myself. It is really really serious and we are all affected. It’s not a game and we really need to pay attention to the Word and our lives.

With all of this in mind, I want us to really think. I want us to really look back at ourselves and analyze our motives and our actions and everything in between. The Bible cannot be anymore clear. It says in Philippians 2:13-15

“13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.”

With this passage in front of us, let’s realize what it says. Let’s realize the intensity and the severity of our lives. Paul teaches us that we need to STAY AWAY FROM SIN. We  need to be pure in all we do so  that people won’t be able to speak about us with blame. We need to live clean, innocent lives as children of God. This means we need to be PURE!

Men, we as men fall SO easily into lust and sexual sin. We need to have our guard up very strongly, especially now in 2013 where fashion is very provocative and gets our eyes wandering. We need to stay strong in Jesus so that we don’t fall into a world of drinking and using drugs, so that we won’t fall into a world of impure relationships and actions.

Girls, you need to love yourselves. You need to realize that your looks aren’t all that matter in life. You are perfect the way you are. You will find a man who loves you as Christ loved the church if you seek Him first. Believe me if you seek God, and get so lost in Christ, you will trip over Him and bump into the man who was also so busy in Him that he tripped and bumped into you. Forgive, forget, don’t get angry, jealous, rude.

We need to watch our mouths and actions because we do impact and influence others around us. Whether you believe this statement or not, I have seen this truth, that we do influence those around us. We lead by example, and as corny and cheesy and cliché as that sounds, that is the simple truth.

Let’s be the lights and examples Christ wants us to be in this dark world. Let’s glorify Him with our lives. Why not? After all Jesus did give up His life for us. He saved us from the wrath of God.
